Erste Group: Ursula Punzet-Arbeithuber to head Enterprise-Wide Risk Management division

Ursula Punzet-Arbeithuber will become the Division Head of Enterprise-Wide Risk Management at Erste Group and Erste Bank Oesterreich as of 1 May 2023. Punzet-Arbeithuber succeeds Karin Svoboda, who will become a member of the managing board of Tiroler Sparkasse on 1 May 2023.

"Against the backdrop of market challenges, especially in recent years, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management guides our group with a holistic risk management view. Having the right management in place here can help to minimize companywide risks on the one hand and to identify and exploit unique enterprise-wide opportunities on the other," says Alexandra Habeler-Drabek, CRO of Erste Group.

Ursula Punzet-Arbeithuber has over two decades of expertise in risk management and played a key role in steering enterprise-wide risks through recent crises (Covid pandemic, war in Ukraine). In recent years, her responsibilities included the development of the group-wide ESG risk framework and the modernization of the Austria-wide impairment system.

Ursula Punzet-Arbeithuber was most recently deputy head of Enterprise-Wide Risk Management. She launched her career in 1998 at the Austrian savings banks’ auditing association, where she established the risk management audit team. After joining Erste Bank Oesterreich in 2019, Punzet-Arbeithuber was responsible for Strategic Risk Management. She also led the risk management team of the Austrian savings bank sector.
