Nominal amount

Also known as face value or face value. In most cases this is EUR 1,000. The nominal amount corresponds to the denomination and thus also to the minimum investment amount of the security. In the case of fixed-income securities, the nominal amount is repaid to the creditors at the end of the term if no other repayment rate is specified. The interest on bonds also relates to the nominal amount.
