Rail as the first choice for freight transport

Growing traffic in its current form is increasingly reaching its limits: traffic jams turn mobility into standstill, and people and the environment are increasingly suffering from the consequences of traffic. Smart and sustainable mobility concepts are key to achieving the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. It is therefore high time for a change in transport, that specifically supports more sustainable and environmentally friendly forms of mobility.

BUDAMAR INNOVATIONS

The company BUDAMAR LOGISTICS, a.s. deals with international forwarding and logistics since it was founded in 2002. It belongs to the strongest forwarding companies in the Slovak Republic. The company currently aims to replace many hundreds of diesel engines with modern electric locomotives. These new and modern trains can replace dozens of lorries crowding the highways and work significantly more energy efficient. Additionally, modern railcars, with new forms of construction, can transport 30 % more goods compared to older wagon designs. „It’s our vision that the railway becomes the number one choice for freight transport - sustainable, affordable, but also easily accessible for businesses. Modern trains are needed for this century to make the green transition happen, “ explains Maroš Vošček, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Budamar Innovations, a.s.

Financing sustainable mobility across Europe

Investments can be a great challenge for railway companies with high capital expenditures and high leverage. Slovenská sporiteľňa, subsidiary of Erste Group, made the financing possible through innovative sustainable financing products and the ambition to contribute to our Group-wide ESG targets. The financing of these modern fleets brings social benefits by improving the railway system in Slovakia, fostering environmentally friendly transportation and supporting the business transformation to a green economy.
