Erste Group cooperates with Baader Bank to further strengthen its capital markets and deal execution offering
- Cooperation focuses on ECM activities, primary market distribution, and deal execution services in Europe and North America
- Firms’ cooperation broadens research offering for institutional clients, providing pan-European coverage
- Institutional and retail clients benefit from firms’ strong deal execution offerings
Erste Group and Baader Bank have signed a memorandum of understanding focusing on capital markets activities and investment banking. The goal of this cooperation is to broaden the service offerings for the firms’ clients in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, as well as in Western Europe.
“Well-developed capital markets are key to supporting growth and innovation. Erste Group as the leading capital markets bank in the CEE region is a strong partner for companies seeking to access the capital markets. As such, we are always working on improving our product offering for all our clients. Through the cooperation with Baader Bank, we are taking a decisive step forward, both with regard to our capital markets offerings for clients, but even more so as a provider of high-quality financial research for Europe,” said Ingo Bleier, Chief Corporates and Markets Officer of Erste Group.

Broad and diversified capital markets offering
The cooperation between Erste Group Bank AG and Baader Bank AG will strengthen the capital markets activities in the core regions of both institutions and will further leverage the strengths of the two companies. The cooperation will focus on Equity Capital Markets (ECM) activities and primary market distribution to institutional clients in Europe, the USA and Canada, as well as on broadening the research offering for institutional clients, in addition to deal execution services in Europe and North America.
The two organisations will continue to act as individual legal entities and are not forming any kind of joint venture. Instead, they will cooperate to complement each other’s current product portfolios, thus creating an offering of equity and capital market service coverage that is in-depth and truly pan-European.
“Thanks to this cooperation, we can offer our clients access to a broader investor basis and to a wider field of market opinions and feedback. Especially for the medium-sized companies across Europe that are so vital for our economies, this expanded and diversified scope ensures a very strong offering when accessing the capital markets,” said Thomas Einramhof, Head of Group Securities Markets at Erste Group.
Pan-European Research offering
Erste Group is the leading research provider for the CEE region, while Baader Bank is one of the leading research providers for Western Europe. The new cooperation will expand Erste’s already extensive research offering by providing access to Baader’s highly regarded research on firms in such key markets as Germany, France, and Switzerland.
“Erste Group Research already independently covers 150 stocks in Austria and CEE. The co-operation with Baader Bank allows us to further expand our already extensive research offering for clients. It also provides further proof of our commitment to the capital markets in our region,” said Fritz Mostböck, Head of Erste Group Research.
Strong deal execution offering
Erste’s state of the art execution expertise in Austria and Eastern Europe is complemented by Baader’s strong Western European and North American trading capabilities. With this step, the institutional and retail clients of both entities will have access to a wider and more competitive deal execution offering for international markets.
“The cooperation with Erste Group means real added value for all parties involved, a wider product offering, and even stronger execution services for our mutual institutional and retail clients,” said Oliver Riedel, Deputy CEO of Baader Bank.
