Andrei, Kite Surfer

After a few years of working for a big company, Andre decided to quit and follow his passion instead: He opened schools for kite surfing and snowboarding and founded a travel agency for like-minded people, bringing them to the best spots for their rides.

“If you mix your passion with business, it's very hard to keep the passion outside.”

His goal is to bring people closer to the sports he himself loves, making them experience the same freedom and rush of adrenaline that he himself feels when in the water.

“If you want to go extreme on this sport, you need to follow the storms. You need to chase the hurricanes. Big waves, big wind.”

Andre is all about collaboration: He works with teaching instructors from UK and Western Europe for his schools and loves to get into the water with riders better than him. Because if you want to learn, you should learn from the best.

Modulab, Creative Technology Lab

„I think we have learned more from our failures than the successful projects.”

Modulab is a creative technology lab that explores the relationship between design, culture, society and media.

Their latest achievement is the development of a highly adaptable autonomous robotic platform capable of navigating complex environments, avoiding obstacles and collisions, having multiple possible applications: inventory auditing robots, logistics sorter robots, mobile industrial robots, delivery robots etc. Triggered by the pandemic and their wish to contribute to ending it, they developed a robot able to disinfect any kind of space or surface, ideal for hospitals.

Gabriel, Director and Playwrite

“I’m still young, and I’m evolving.”

Gabriel writes and directs plays inspired by real life, giving the stories a fictional twist. He is fascinated by the life of outcasts, minorities and people in extreme situations, and sees his art as a possibility give their stories a new dynamic.

“Some decisions might hurt you at first, but you have to trust your guts and your instinct and be bold, because good art rarely comes from cowards."

Wanda, Street Artist

“At least I don't work in an open office anymore. Well, it's also open now, but it's a different kind of open.”

Wanda finished art school and was working for an advertising agency when she came across some mural painters in Mexico. They would paint walls for food and accommodation during their surf trips. She helped them out a bit and found she loved the work, so back home she kept painting murals whenever possible.

“I'm not a naturally extroverted person. It's something I've learned, to handle people.”

After the first lockdown she went out for a coffee when someone dropped a mirror from the sixth floor, hitting her on the head. The injuries led to a long recovery, a wobbly mind and memory losses, which made it hard for her to continue working in advertising.

This is when she decided to become a painter – doing smaller drawings and illustrations at first, but soon getting more and more commissions, until it became a real thing.
