Erste Digital: Ekkehard Preis appointed Managing Director

  • Ekkehard Preis will become the new Managing Director of Erste Digital as of 1 June 2023
  • Preis has been with Erste Group since 2008 and is currently responsible for Group Banking Services
  • Erste Digital has more than 2,000 experts and IT professionals working in Central and Eastern Europe as part of Erste Group

Ekkehard Preis will become the new Managing Director of Erste Digital as of 1 June 2023. Erste Digital is the IT subsidiary of Erste Group and thus the digital heart of the banking group. Preis, 45, brings more than 20 years of experience in banking, operations and IT. As Managing Director, Ekkehard Preis joins the existing team of Christoph Helm and Christoph Kohlbach.

Ekkehard Preis has been with Erste Group since 2008 and has years of experience in leading positions in various areas of the bank. Since 2018 he has been Head of the Banking Services division during which he played a key role in shaping the transformation of the ongoing digitalisation of banking processes. Previously, Preis was Head of Group Product & Business Management, where he was responsible for strategic support of the Large Corporates & Capital Markets division, product development, and central innovation project management for the division. He possesses in-depth knowledge of which products and processes are important for the further digitalisation of financial services.

Preis succeeds Dietmar Böckmann, who left the company on 31 December 2022. Born in Carinthia, Austria, Preis studied in Graz and St. Gallen and trained as a business economist. He has three children and lives in Vienna.
