Thomas Schaufler to join German Commerzbank

Thomas Schaufler, retail board member at Erste Group and Erste Bank Oesterreich, will move to Germany's Commerzbank as of 1.1.2022.

Schaufler (51) started his career in 1993 in Austrian GiroCredit as account manager. In 1997, he moved to Erste Bank der oesterreichischen Sparkassen when the bank was taken over. Here he held various management positions in retail sales and the securities business. Schaufler has been a member of the Management Board of Erste Bank Oesterreich since February 2016 and a member of the Management Board of Erste Group Bank AG since January 2021.

Thomas Schaufler will resign from his functions as of 31.10.2021. Group Corporates & Markets Board Member Ingo Bleier will assume the Group function on the Managing Board on an interim basis. At Erste Bank Oesterreich, Willi Cernko, board member for Corporate Customers, will also be responsible for the retail business until further notice.
