Expansion of the e-charging station infrastructure at Erste Campus: faster and easier charging of electric vehicles

Together with our partner Global Payments, we have expanded and simplified the EV charging infrastructure in the car park at Erste Campus. In addition to the existing 34 charging stations, 40 new ones with 22 kW each and 3 Powerchargers with 50 kW each were added. During the expansion of the charging infrastructure, a dynamic load management system was set up to control the amount of energy available for the charging stations. This meant that it was not necessary to expand the transformer station or increase the peak load.

The conversion and expansion of the charging infrastructure supports Erste Group's sustainability goals as part of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles. A big thank you to the property management for their commitment.

Probably the smallest self-service branch in Austria opened in Rum

Our smallest location - the Rum self-service branch - has been in operation since Friday, November 17. It is located just a few meters from our former location at Rathausplatz 1 and offers our customers a self-service experience with its finger on the pulse.

After 10 days of renovation and relocation, our Rum self-service branch has a new home. With an area of just 6.85 m², the location lives up to its reputation as "probably the smallest branch in Austria". Whether making deposits or withdrawals, account statements or transfers - our customers will find two modern self-service machines in the new premises, enabling them to handle almost all aspects of their financial lives. The branch is located in the listed town hall of the market town of Rum and can be accessed barrier-free via the entrance on the west side of the building. Like all our self-service locations, the Rum branch is open from Monday to Sunday between 5 a.m. and midnight.

EBOe Wiedner Hauptstraße branch receives klimaaktiv award

The renovation of our branch in Wieden is a showcase project: our "silver" location is one of the 56 sustainable projects in Vienna. CO2 emissions are also generated by our daily operations: for example, we supply our locations with energy, travel to work or on business trips and purchase goods and services. Wolf Lindner and Gerhard Pohl told us how we are reducing these emissions at our stores.

Among the award-winning Viennese buildings in 2023

The renovation roadmap for the branch in Wieden has paid off: our "silver" location was presented to a specialist audience at a symposium organized by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Protection (BMK) as part of its klimaaktiv and Austria Green Planet Building (AGPB) initiatives, as well as by the Austrian Sustainable Building Council (ÖGNB). The awards for the 56 Viennese projects and the five international showcase examples were presented at a high-profile event attended by more than 300 experts from the construction and real estate industry.

The store was renovated architecturally, thermally and technically, which was a challenging task:

  • Due to the historic façade, highly efficient interior insulation was applied.
  • The box-type windows were replaced on the inside with modern wooden windows with 3-pane insulating glass.
  • External, electrically controllable sun protection was fitted to the windows on the upper floor.
  • The ventilation and cooling system was renewed and equipped with heat recovery.
  • The lighting was converted to energy-efficient LED technology.
  • The central heating of the office unit will in future run on district heating instead of gas.

This makes 781 points out of a possible 1000 in the klimaaktiv assessment.

All stores designed to be climate-active by 2030

With the help of a long-term plan, we are converting all stores by 2030, taking into account the klimaaktiv criteria catalog. We have already converted around 50% of the existing branch network, meeting a minimum standard in terms of sustainability, reducing energy consumption and improving building physics. The Purkersdorf and Hütteldorf branches, which are currently being renovated, will be completed in 2024. The renovation of the Gersthof branch is also planned. As things stand, Gold status can only be achieved for new buildings. The new "Vienna Twenty Two" location (completion at the end of 2025) is expected to achieve Gold status.

About klimaaktiv

Klimaaktiv is a climate protection initiative of the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology. Our bank branches are assessed according to the klimaaktiv criteria and visibly labeled for our customers. Three quality levels - bronze, silver and gold - can be achieved.
